Today we are speaking with one
of our authors in the upcoming release of Every Body Holds A
Story, Barb MacKay. Barb
MacKay is a person in recovery living in the Cariboo region of BC.
She lives with her dog Gypsy and is enjoying life to the fullest.
She is mostly happy, joyous and free. Born and raised on Haida
Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands) she has lived in many places
including Nova Scotia and all over BC. She is a survivor and a
thriver. She helps others where she can and attends 12 Step
meetings weekly. She volunteers with a local community group and
spends her time with friends and family. She is currently seeing a
new friend and is enjoying time with him and his dog. She is
outgoing and healthy.
In this episode we discuss.
1) Barb’s son passed away from an
overdose 5 years ago, and one of the last things he said was to ask
Barb to get up and fight. This was the beginning of her
story. He continues to be the inspiration for the work she does
today.
2) Barb shares her writing process and
how she wants to continue to help others through her story, and how
it has given her freedom from some of the pain in her story.

Barb shares her story of the loss of her son, and also shares her
own personal journey during this loss. .
